Beauty and Cold Sores :(

So I know everyone is blogging about Christmas everything. But as you know or may have discovered I am not very good at following the trend, it’s just not me. But I will get round to Christmas gift ideas especially for last minute people like me. If you know me, you know you get Birthday or Christmas gifts a couple of weeks if you are very blessed or maybe months later lol.

I have not even introduced what I am on about this blog. So Cold Sores. I just thought I would write a blog on this because it’s something that had affected me for many years.  How do cold sores relate to a beauty blog?  Lets find out.

Please note this is not medical advice from a professional medical adviser  just peace talking about her experience and what could help others. I also want to know what other people have done regarding this issue.

I just remember being in high school when I started having cold sores So with my swollen lips and very very disturbing lips I can not even explain what they looked like, pictures would help but even if I had them I would not put them up. I walked to the doctors in the cold in pain all by myself. I waited for a while and after all that waiting the doctor could not wait to get rid of me I remember that day like it was yesterday she just said drink water and take paracetamol. What do you mean paracetamol and water. I went home crying. There was nothing anyone could do to help me because it was new, the pharmacies did not have all this new fancy creams that help. So if your getting a cold sore now for the first time trust me it’s not a good thing but at least you have options to help with the irritation, pain and reduce the swelling because I had none of that and trust me when I say I would have my mouth inside the house it was bad real bad Michael Jackson bad.

So I know the first question on everyone’s mind what causes it.

“Cold sores and fever blisters are caused by herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1). This virus is passed from person to person by saliva (either directly, or by drinking from the same glass or cup) or by skin contact. Cold sores usually appear as clusters of tiny blisters on the lip. About 8 out of 10 people have the virus that causes cold sores. Most people are first infected before they are 10 years old.”

For me personally,

To be honest I don’t know but mine would return around September and October the transaction from summer. Once you have had it, it does not go away (but people  like me it does heal for life.  if you know you know it’s a healing code). So once you have had it there are factors that trigger it. For me personally it’s very dry lips when winter begins. I discovered some lip balms trigger it so I try my best to stick to Vaseline. Lipsticks trigger the cold sores are well, however it’s only some lipsticks. I have a post on mac lipstick and I can say that it does trigger it but only if I use it too many days consecutively so I love lipstick but unfortunately during winter I have to be very careful. So you have to find out what triggers yours. I always say prevention is better than cure.

So how do you deal with cold sores. Yes you can pray i know that was the first answer to most of my readers. I will say always have a cream like in your house because you want to apply it as soon as the symptoms surface. Don’t wait until you can’t move your lips. Apply the cream straight away and you will prevent it from spreading.  Do not use your figure to apply the cream because your going to be using the same hands to do other tasks and you don’t want them affecting other parts of the face or lips. Also think about you use those hands to eat. Anyway I hope the point has been taken. So use  ear buds.

Even though I am giving you my tricks please make sure you consult a doctor for more accurate information for you specifically. Everyone is different so what works for me quickly could take longer to work for you.

The cream i use is Zovirax Cold Sore Relief Treatment Cream Pump 5% – 2g Pump   you can get it from shops such as tesco, sainsbury, boots and almost at all pharmacies.

What has been your experience with cold sores and what has worked for you.
